The hotel rooms were fabulous, ranging from the previous guest in room 3016 to the luxurious Presidential Augustus Suite. Despite some noise disturbance from guests playing loud music all night, the rooms themselves were impressive.
The hotel had a timeless feel to it and was perfect for exploring Johannesburg with its proximity to the airport, Gold Reef City, Emperor's Palace, and various activities. However, there were some issues with fly-filled rooms and slow response times for assistance, which affected the quality of sleep.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms were lovely with great service and a delicious buffet breakfast, but there were some issues like a tired carpet and an unpleasant incident with a cleaner. The location was convenient for a quick stopover before a flight, but the phone lines weren't working on check-out day.
The hotel was full of flies and far below the standard of the much cheaper Mondior, making it a disappointing choice for a family getaway. Although the hotel seemed less than 50% full, the noise from the freeway was a constant disturbance throughout my stay.
The hotel is conveniently located for exploring Johannesburg and offers a good cocktail experience, but the rooms need improvement with stale air and worn-out furniture. The service is a mix of exceptional and inattentive staff, while the dining options vary from pleasant to terrible. The facilities are average with potential for enhancement.
My stay at the Peermont d'Oreale Grande was a mixed experience. The hotel has a great location near Emperors Palace Johannesburg and very close to the airport, perfect for relaxing with a good cocktail. The rooms, although extremely small with a strange bathroom layout, were clean and comfortable. The dining experience was a bit cold and missing items we ordered, but the vast variety made up for it. The friendly service from some of the staff members added to the overall pleasant stay.
